Invest WindsorEssex's VR training facilities for battery manufacturing had a 97 per cent employment rate.
The Battery Boost Technical Training program was launched early this year with $3.8 million from Upskill Canada and the federal government.
There were 408 participants in the four-week training module over the last nine months, and 397 were hired into full-time positions at the NextStar Energy plant.
"The Battery Booster is one good example of how we are securing the talent that we need in this new industry," said Danies Lee, CEO of NextStar Energy.
NextStar Energy has 1,100 employees and has committed to hiring 2,500 when the plant is fully operational.
The Battery Booster program will have additional sessions in the new year.
Ed Dawson, Executive Director of Automobility and Innovation at Invest WindsorEssex, indicated that now that the technology is part of the VR Cave at Invest WindsorEssex, it can be adapted for other industries and jobs as well.
"These are headsets that you can put on and whether you're here at our centre or whether you're at another location, if you're part of the same training program that you're part of for that day you can actually train together in real time," said Dawson.
