Masking policy at Windsor Regional Hospital to change on Monday

Windsor Regional Hospital is updating its masking policy ahead of an expected increase in influenza, COVID-19, and RSV cases.

Starting on Monday, employees, professional staff, and volunteers will be required to wear a mask whenever they are within two meters of a patient.

If there's an outbreak, they may be required to wear additional personal protective equipment, like gowns and eye protection. Signs will be posted on rooms and units experiencing an outbreak.

The hospital recommends visitors mask up when they're within two meters of a patient, but masking is not required in non-clinical areas, including main lobbies, waiting areas, cafeterias, and elevators. However, it's highly recommended when visiting high-risk areas like the emergency department, dialysis, and the cancer centre.

Masks will be available at hospital entrances for those who need one.
