The 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix is still months away, but organizers are already looking for volunteers.
The Detroit Grand Prix Association is looking for 1,350 volunteers this year who will form a strong corps behind the race weekend set for May 29 to May 31.
This will be the race's 36th year in Detroit, and people from across the region are invited to step into key ambassador roles at one of Detroit's biggest events.
Hundreds of members are expected to return this year, but the Detroit Grand Prix Association is looking for those who are enthusiastic about community, hospitality, and showcasing Detroit to visitors from around the world.
Several departments are expanding to accommodate the race's growing needs, while new opportunities are being introduced to the volunteer experience.
Volunteers are needed to serve as Circuit Marshals, to drive shuttle buses, as guest navigators, and to work in the Food Services and Ticket Services teams. New volunteers can commit to one full day or two half-day shifts leading up to and during the Grand Prix weekend.
"The spirit of the Detroit Grand Prix truly begins with our volunteers," said President of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Michael Montri. "They're the first ones to greet our guests, the first to assist families, and the first to demonstrate what premier customer service is all about here in Detroit."
The DGPA has earned a national reputation as one of the most respected volunteer organizations in sports. Many members have volunteered for over a decade, and a few have been involved since the first Detroit Grand Prix on the streets of Detroit in 1982.
