Michigander allegedly caught doing 198 km/h on Hwy 401 in CK

This is no April Fools' Day prank.

A Michigan driver is facing several charges for allegedly having a lead foot.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) alleged the 20-year-old was caught speeding at 198 km/h on the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent (CK) on Tuesday afternoon.

The unidentified driver was charged with stunt driving, failing to stop on the right for an emergency vehicle, and failing to surrender their permit.

The OPP said their driver's licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded.

Police added that speed is a contributing factor in vehicle crashes that involve injury and fatalities.
