A municipal election is almost upon us.
The County of Essex is ready to help potential candidates prepare for a campaign and is hosting a candidate information night on Wednesday.
It will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the County Administration Building on Fairview Avenue West. The event is free, but registration is requested online.
The session will include presentations by local municipal staff, representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and by Clerks on Call, a consulting agency.
Those considering a run for mayor, deputy mayor, councillor, and school board trustee in Windsor-Essex this fall are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and pick up prospective candidate packages for their municipalities, which will have booths set up.
Candidates may begin to file for nomination on May 1. The filing deadline is August 21, with the election set for October 26.
