Expect lane restrictions on the E.C. Row at Banwell Friday morning

Starting at 7 a.m. on Friday and until April 24, the eastbound E.C. Row Expressway will be down to one lane at Banwell Road.

The city is installing a water main along the expressway as part of its interchange and corridor improvements at Banwell Road.

The project, one of the largest infrastructure projects in the city's history, will improve traffic flow in the Banwell Road and E.C. Row Expressway area to accommodate an expected increase in traffic with the addition of the NextStar Energy Plant, residential development in Tecumseh Hamlet, and the future Fanscy Family Hospital on Cabana Road East.

Because of the $120.5-million project's complexity, drivers should expect lane restrictions and slowdowns for the duration of construction.

The full Banwell Road corridor currently accommodates between 10,000 and 17,000 vehicles a day. The city expects that to double north of the interchange, and triple south of it.
