It rained on Monday night in Windsor-Essex, but things could get even wetter this week.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Tuesday night and Wednesday due to potentially heavy rain, but the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has added a flood outlook.
ERCA says the region received as much as ten millimetres of rain overnight, and multiple rounds of rain in the forecast could result in a total of 40 to 70 millimetres through Thursday.
"Total rainfall amounts are highly uncertain, especially for rain brought on by isolated thunderstorms," said ERCA Water Resource Manager Tian Martin. "This amount of rainfall could create ponding and areas of standing water. This rain could also cause smaller watercourses to rise, and some could spill their banks into adjacent low-lying areas."
At the moment, the forecast does not meet the criteria for a flood watch.
ERCA will continue to monitor forecasts and provide updates when needed.
