Emergency vehicles responded to the call around 4:30 p.m.
Fire officials said the blaze started in the kitchen. The homeowner and dog were able to escape without injury.
Unattended cooking has been listed as the cause of the fire.
They estimate the damages to be around $200,000. Four residents have been displaced as a result.
Windsor police are looking for two suspects involved in a violent assault over the weekend.
