UPDATE: Windsor fire responds to blaze on North Service Road

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services say a serious fire on the North Service Road on Thursday afternoon caused $325,000 in damage.

Fire crews were first called just before 4:30 p.m. to North Service Road near Clemenceau Boulevard. Firefighters attacked the fire in what was originally reported in at least two structures and the surrounding grassy area. Windsor Fire and Rescue Services reported that the fire originated in multiple vehicles in a building.

Black smoke was seen from a distance.

The service recommended that all residents who are downwind of the fire keep their windows and doors closed. It gave the all-clear overnight.

The fire was declared out soon after 5:30 p.m., affecting only an office structure and the grassy area.

There were no vehicles or hazardous materials involved, and no injuries.

As of 6 p.m., a fire investigator was on scene to determine a cause and damage estimate.

The investigation is ongoing.
