Three arrested following serious Windsor assault

Windsor police say three people have been charged after an assault left a man suffering life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to an alley on Marion Avenue near Erie Street East, soon after 7 a.m. on Monday. When they arrived, they found a seriously-injured 44-year-old man.

Police learned that the victim had arranged to meet a female acquaintance at the garage of a nearby house. Soon after the woman arrived, two men forced their way into the garage and repeatedly beat the victim with a baseball bat.

A neighbour saw what was happening and chased away one of the men. The other male and the female fled in a vehicle. While fleeing, the woman hit the neighbour with the vehicle before taking off.

The neighbour suffered minor injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit soon identified the three suspects. The 34-year-old woman and one of the men, 39, were arrested on Tuesday in a Strathroy parking lot by members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Unit.

The other man, 31, turned himself in at Windsor police headquarters on Wednesday.

All three are charged with aggravated assault. The woman is also charged with dangerous driving and failure to stop at the scene of a crash. The 39-year-old man is also charged with failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing.
