Windsor's Muslim community planning Canada Day celebration

Windsor's Muslim community is holding its first Canada Day celebration on Wednesday.

The event is open to all and will offer a free BBQ, games, family-friendly activities, and an opportunity to meet fellow Canadians from diverse backgrounds.

The celebration is at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at -- Baitul Ehsan Mosque on Head Avenue in Windsor. It starts at 12:45 p.m.

The local event coincides with Ahmadiyya Muslim celebrations across Canada, expressing shared love, loyalty, and gratitude for the nation.

"For many, Canada represents a place of peace, opportunity, and belonging, where people of all backgrounds can freely practice their faith and contribute positively to society," read a release. "This celebration is an expression of appreciation for the freedoms and values that make Canada a beacon of diversity and inclusion."
