The American Hockey League has announced the rosters for the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic, which include three players with local ties.
The 2016 rosters feature 38 first-time AHL all-stars, nine rookies and ten former first-round draft choices. Among those are former Windsor Spitfire Kerby Rychel, Wallaceburg native Seth Griffith and former Tilbury resident Brandon Montour.
The 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic is set to take place in Syracuse, New York, with the All-Star Skills Competition on January 31. All-stars from the Eastern Conference will square off against all-stars from the Western Conference in seven skills events.
Then on February 1, the All-Star Challenge will divide the all-stars into four teams, one representing each of the league’s divisions (Atlantic, North, Central, Pacific). The teams will then play a round-robin tournament featuring six games of nine minutes each.
