A yellow snow squall warning has been put in effect for Goderich, Bluewater, and southern Huron County areas.
Residents are being warned to prepare for potentially hazardous travel conditions on Sunday as snow squalls move through the region.
Environment Canada says lake-effect snow off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay is expected to rapidly develop Sunday morning as a cold front passes through. The snow squalls are forecast to continue into the afternoon before conditions gradually improve later in the day.
Drivers could face sudden reductions in visibility due to bursts of heavy snow and widespread blowing snow. Strong northwesterly winds, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, are expected to accompany the snow, making conditions especially challenging at times.
Total snowfall amounts are expected to be up to 10 centimetres. In some areas, visibility could drop to near zero without much warning.
Environment Canada is urging residents and travellers to be prepared for quickly changing road conditions and to use extra caution if heading out Sunday morning or afternoon.
