The Town of Amherstburg will officially swear in its new mayor and council Monday night.
The town council will be the last in Windsor-Essex to inaugurate its new council, doing so with a public meeting at the McGregor Columbian Club.
Michael Prue, who has already been sworn into his place on Essex County Council, will address residents in his first official remarks as mayor. Previously an at-large councillor, Prue succeeds Aldo DiCarlo, who stepped away from the job after two terms.
Chris Gibb, also new to the county council, will be sworn in as the new deputy mayor, succeeding Leo Meloche, who did not run again.
There will be a mix of new and familiar faces on the town council. Diane Pouget returns to the table after a term away. The other two incumbents taking office Monday are Donald McArthur and Peter Courtney.
Joining the council will be political newcomers Linden Crain and Molly Allaire. Crain, 22, is the youngest councillor in Windsor-Essex. He is a student at the University of Windsor, hosts a popular podcast, and had previously worked in Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens' office.
Allaire, 32, is also a political novice. The mother is currently employed as a caregiver at a local long-term care home.
The inaugural meeting begins at 6 p.m.
