Detroit's Comerica Park has hosted baseball, and even hockey, but a new sport will debut there this fall.
Upper Deck Golf, which offers golfers a chance to work on their games with a backdrop of sports facilities, will stop at Comerica Park in the autumn.
Golfers will have a chance to use "tees" that will be set up in the ballpark's upper deck. Custom-built greens will be placed on the playing field.
The concept is already set for a handful of Major League Baseball stadiums. Chicago's Wrigley Field is hosting the event this weekend. Dates have also been confirmed for PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Busch Stadium in St. Louis, and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
In addition to Detroit, Upper Deck Golf will visit Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle. Stops in Minneapolis and Denver are already sold out.
Golfers can choose from standard and VIP packages. Both include an 18-hole "round" of golf, a supply of golf balls, access to food and drink in a fully-stocked bar, and access to areas of Comerica Park not seen by the general public. The VIP package will add a complimentary meal, and free entries for driving, putting, and chipping challenges.
Registration will open sometime in September. Dates have not been finalized and will be once the Tigers complete their season.
There is currently no stop planned for Toronto's Rogers Centre.
