Investigation conducted after 'hateful graffiti' found at Tecumseh school

The local English public school board has confirmed a recent incident at a Tecumseh school.

Few details have been made public, but the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) reported that what was described as hateful graffiti was found in a secondary wing at Tecumseh Vista Academy.

Board spokesperson Scott Scantlebury told WindsorNewsToday.ca that an investigation was conducted, but the board was "not at liberty to reveal the results."

"The GECDSB is committed to inclusive learning and working environments free from discrimination and threats, where all students and staff are valued and accepted," read the statement provided. "We recognize the profound harms caused by and condemn any racist, hateful, and threatening language and conduct. All students and employees have a right to safe, respectful space in our schools. Words, actions, or images that threaten the well-being of students or staff will not be tolerated."
