An arrest warrant has been issued for a 24-year-old Windsor man accused of passing counterfeit bills at Sarnia businesses.
City police said officers investigated "multiple occurrences" on September 11, in which a man allegedly used fake $100 bills to purchase items and accepted change from the fraudulent purchases.
Surveillance photos helped police identify the suspect as Dylan Laforet.
He was allegedly linked to similar incidents in neighbouring jurisdictions and the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) believes Laforet may be responsible for other unreported crimes.
Sarnia police said Laforet is wanted on the following charges:
- Nine counts of possession of counterfeit money
- Nine counts of utter counterfeit money
- Nine counts of fraud under $5,000
Anyone with information on Laforet's whereabouts is asked to contact the SPS at 519-344-8861 extension 0.
Those who have received counterfeit bills in Sarnia over the past month are also asked to contact city police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
