The Windsor Spitfires doubled the Guelph Storm 6-3 during Thursday night's home game.
Windsor secured the first goal of the game with a shot in Guelph's net by Ethan Miedema 1:28 into the first frame. Not even two minutes after the first goal, the Spits scored again, this time by Wyatt Johnston. The Storm was able to score shortly after allowing them to trail just one point behind.
The Spitfires surged ahead yet again with another two goals by Kyle McDonald at 17:28 and Will Cuylle at 18:57 finishing the period 4-1 ahead of Guelph.
Going into the second period, Windsor put up a fifth goal by Ryan Abraham at 5:21, while the Storm made a second goal. The Spits continued to hold a steady lead with a score of 5-2 heading into the third frame of the game.
During the final period, Guelph scored a third goal and Windsor responded with a goal by Nathan Ribau at 12:38 giving Windsor a 6-3 victory.
Spits goalie Kyle Downey made an impressive 36 saves out of 39 shots on net by the Storm.
Windsor will stay home when they take on the Kitchener Rangers on Saturday at 7 p.m.
