Perth Junior Farmers Host Provincial Event Saturday

Amanda Brodhagen says this weekend's Junior Farmers of Ontario Autumn Profile is going to be one of the largest in recent memory.

Brodhagen is with the Perth County Junior Farmers, who are hosting this year's event Saturday at the Listowel Fairgrounds.

Over 100 Junior Farmer members from 17 clubs from across the province will be taking part.

She describes it as a farmers olympics style event, with past competitions involving machinery repair, livestock judging and animal nutrition.

Brodhagen says they keep the actual competitions secret until the day of the event, but does confirm this year's will include livestock judging and pumpkin-carving.

They have the support of the Listowel Agricultural Society - so they'll be using both outdoor and indoor facilities at the Listowel Fairgrounds.

The event will go ahead, no matter what the weather brings.

And Brodhagen says they encourage the public to come out and check out what's going on.

The Junior Farmers Association of Ontario Autumn Profile runs from 10 till about 4 Saturday at the Listowel Fairgrounds.
