UPDATE: Strike Deadline Declared In HPBO Talks

A ratification/information meeting for Unifor Local 444 members with HPBO is scheduled for 9am on Saturday at the union hall at 1855 Turner Rd. despite the absence of a tentative agreement being announced ahead of a strike deadline tonight.

As of 8pm on Wednesday, there's been no word of a tentative agreement from either the union or the company. Unifor Local 444 has set a strike deadline in talks with HPBO for 11:59pm tonight, after three days of negotiations.

The two sides sat down again this morning, but monetary issues including wages and pensions remain a sticking point.

Local 444 President Dino Chiodo says the union is offering the same contract its members at TRW, Dakkota and Oakley have already ratified.

While the union only represents 90 workers at the auto parts manufacturer, a strike could have wide-reaching implications elsewhere including at the Windsor Assembly Plant.
