LaSalle Planning Masse Celebrations

The Town of LaSalle is working on preparations to celebrate hometown Olympian and bronze medalist Kylie Masse.

Mayor Ken Antaya says the town has good practice in honouring hometown stars after Luke Willson's success in the NFL and Danielle Wade won the role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz play in Toronto.

"What we'll do is something very similar to what we did with Luke Willson and Danielle Wade; we'll honour her with some banners along the street and we're going to dedicate a day to her as well," says Antaya.

Masse won bronze in the 100 m women's backstroke event at the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

Antaya says seeing a bronze medal in LaSalle is a proud moment for the community.

"We're very proud of her of course and we were going to be doing something for her as an Olympian and now we can do it as a medalist winner as well," says Antaya. "We're going to try and do something very special for because she's a town daughter."

Antaya expects celebrations to be held sometime in the next two months.
