Windsor Woman Wins Her Greatest Wish

When Marie Kinch went to Food Basics on Tuesday she thought she was going to claim a $250 shopping spree she'd won online, but she went home with so much more.

As part of the Ontario grocery chain's "Win it All" campaign, Kinch took home a $3,000 cheque for first and last month's rent for a new apartment for her growing family.

"This is a big shock... I'm, I'm...wow! I'm so grateful right now," said Kinch after being presented with the surprise cheque.

Kinch submitted her wish for first and last months rent through a Food Basics Facebook contest in honour of Canada150.  She's due to deliver her first baby in October and she says the money will go a long way to starting her baby's life out on the right foot.

"It's going to get us a new place, a nice place. We've been looking and we were looking at housing and stuff but now we can actually get a really nice place," said Kinch.

The grocery chain also put together a gift basket of baby supplies for the couple and they will get the promised $250 gift card to the store.

"This is just our way to give back to our consumers, not only do we have great prices and fresh food always in stock but we're now also fulfilling wishes and giving back to the community," said Carla Costa, marketing manager for Food Basics.

Kinch says she hopes her and her husband Ron Kinch can find a new place by the time her son, Liam, is born in mid-October.
