Sarnia-Lambton United Way launches COVID-19 Compassion Fund

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way has launched a new fund to help agencies during this difficult time.

Executive Director Dave Brown said they have started the Compassion Fund, which is available to registered charities serving Lambton County.

He said agencies will be able to apply for assistance to help them meet the needs in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I've talked to some agencies who are really stretched to the limit providing services for people," said Brown. "Really the intent for the Compassion Fund is to provide basic necessities of life, food, clothing, shelter, safety and that would include mental health."

Brown said so far they have about $18,000 designated for the fund and they're appealing to businesses, organizations and individuals to donate.

A link to contribute is posted on the United Way's website.
