The drive toward 4.0 technology by St. Clair College has resulted in federal funding for the school.
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded a $440,000 grant to the college, supporting the development of what is termed 4.0 technology.
"Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution, provides the advanced manufacturing technologies that are being adopted worldwide and need to be more readily adopted in Canada to maintain relevancy," said St. Clair College Program Manager of Research and Innovation John Lopez.
Lopez will oversee the process of the college's work with manufacturers, reducing the risk of adopting technology while striving for 4.00 technology solutions that enable companies to compete on a global scale. The college will complete four to six such projects a year.
"We know the Windsor-Essex region is a vital pipeline in the movement of goods and services across the manufacturing sector in North America," said St. Clair College President Patti France in a media release. "St. Clair College is proud to lead the way in working to find advanced technological solutions for our industry partners, helping to place them in a strong position to compete on the global stage."
The $440,000 comes through the National Tri-Agency College and Community Innovation program’s Applied Research and Technology Partnership (ARTP) grants.
