Leamington Grade 8s can ride bus for free

Leamington Transit wants Grade 8 students in the municipality to become more familiar with the transit system, so it's launched a new promotion.

Starting on Friday, those students can ride Leamington Transit for free. All they need is an LT-Go Pass.

The promotion continues through March Break and ends on Sunday, March 19.

"Learning how to use the app to plan and pay for a trip and becoming comfortable on transit are all life skills that our young people will use as they get jobs, go off to school, and travel to other communities," said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. "Our goal is to create lifelong transit riders."

The LT-Go on-demand transit service doesn't have a fixed route or schedule. Instead, buses are dispatched by request. Customers can choose their pick-up time and location by booking through the LT-Go app, online or by calling.

It has 118 transit stops throughout urban Leamington.
