Pool contractor charged with defrauding customers of over $110K

Windsor police have arrested a pool contractor for allegedly leaving would-be customers all wet.

The Amherstburg detachment's Criminal Investigations Unit began an investigation into KTPC Pools this past April. KTPC is a Blenheim-based pool installation business. Police say several consumers have contacted them to complain about the owner taking deposits but not doing any work.

Investigators dug deeper and found that in the fall of 2022, three customers had hired KTPC Pools for various projects, and the owner had allegedly taken a total of $110,000 in deposits. Police also learned that the company had filed for bankruptcy.

The owner, a 63-year-old Blenheim man, was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with three counts of fraud over $5,000. The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation is ongoing as there may be additional victims. Anyone with additional information or who may have given the company money should contact Sergeant Tim McInnis at (519) 736-8559, ext. 226. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
