Leamington to begin dog registration enforcement Wednesday

The Municipality of Leamington will begin an enforcement program this week to ensure Fido and Fifi are registered.

The Municipality's bylaw team will begin door-to-door checks on Wednesday to ensure that pet owners have complied with Bylaw 668-06. It requires dog owners to register their animals and purchase a dog tag.

The bylaw also prohibits residents from having more than two dogs on their property at once unless the property owner has a licence to run an approved kennel.

The cost of a dog licence is $50, including any late fee. Bylaw officers will not accept any payments.

The bylaw officers will carry proper IDs showing that they are Municipality of Leamington employees.

Dog licences can be purchased online, or at the Leamington Municipal Building during regular business hours. Cash payments are not accepted.

Complete information about dog registration in Leamington can be found on the Municipality's official website.
