Adventure Bay to expand hours this summer

Windsor-Essex's largest family water park will lengthen its operating hours just as school lets out for the summer.

The City of Windsor, which owns Adventure Bay Family Water Park, announced that starting Saturday, June 29, hours will expand to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

"This announcement of expanded hours for the water park increases access to this community amenity," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "This means more opportunities for individuals and families to experience the incredible entertainment side of the facility, even as the competition and programming pool is bursting with back-to-back high-profile swim events drawing participants and spectators from around the world."

The water park is attached to the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino added that the expansion of hours at the water park is part of the City's Strengthen the Core initiative for downtown.

"The more we add things to do and amazing amenities to explore in the core, the more people we will attract," said Agostino. "We’re saying come downtown, spend a day at the water park, visit the Chimczuk Museum and Art Windsor-Essex gallery just a few steps away, head over to the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market, enjoy a meal at one of the amazing restaurants nearby, stop in at shops filled with locally made goods."

The City said the water park and aquatic centre attract an average of 300,000 visitors a year. In addition to the family-family attraction of the water park, the aquatic centre offers swimming lessons, swimming and diving clubs, fit lane swimming and aqua fit, and it hosts world-class competitions.

The water park had been open from noon to 4 p.m. for some time, following a lengthy closure made necessary by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Complete information about admission rates can be found by calling 311 or visiting the official Adventure Bay website.
