A test that became commonplace in Windsor-Essex during the COVID-19 pandemic will no longer be provided by local health officials.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit announced this week that it will stop making the rapid antigen test (RAT) available for public distribution, and it has no plans to restock them.
However, the health unit said residents still have options.
"If you develop COVID-19 symptoms, contact your primary care provider or local pharmacy to find out if you are eligible for a publicly funded test," read a release from the health unit. "We encourage community members to continue to protect themselves and others during the respiratory illness season. This includes staying up to date on your immunizations and staying home if you are feeling sick or unwell."
