The average homeowner in LaSalle could see their taxes go up by over $200 next year.
The Town of LaSalle released its 2025 draft budget, which is $50.4 million, an increase of $4.6 million from 2024. That represents around a $209 increase for the average home that has a market value of $710,000.
The increase includes an additional $1 million for policing costs, $1.7 million for enhancements and $1.9 million in inflationary changes.
“While inflation rates are beginning to stabilize, the Town continues to be affected by the increases of the past few years. Despite these pressures, we remain committed to investing in critical areas that sustain our existing service levels and position LaSalle for future growth. Our focus will continue to be on delivering services, infrastructure, and programming that enhance and contribute to the well-being of our community. The proposed budget carefully considers the affordability for our taxpayers while ensuring we maintain the high quality of services they rely on,” said Dale Langlois, Director of Finance/Treasurer.
Any residents with questions or concerns about the draft budget are invited to an open house at the Vollmer Centre on Thursday, November 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. A survey is also available online.
Town councillors will deliberate the budget on December 4 and 5.
