You may have noticed it already, but Windsor's downtown core will be lit up a little differently for the rest of the week.
To celebrate St. Clair College's football team and its historic national title, the streets of downtown will take on a green-and-gold appearance.
Beginning Thursday evening, the string and globe lights on Ouellette Avenue between Chatham Street and Riverside Drive were lit in Saints colours.
Caesars Windsor will light up its exterior in green and gold.
All of St. Clair College's campuses will light up in the colours as well, including the St. Clair Centre for the Arts, the downtown campus, and the MediaPlex.
"The congratulatory messages and support since the win have been overwhelming," said Saints Head Football Coach Mike LaChance. "Seeing downtown and Caesars Windsor lit up green and gold will be something special for everyone in the city as well as all of Saints Nation across the globe. It is truly an honour to coach this team and to be a small part of something so special."
St. Clair College President Michael Silvaggi is still celebrating the football team's first-ever win in the Canadian Bowl.
"They showed the rest of Canada what grit and determination looks like and in doing so, have become the first College program in CJFL history to win the prestigious title," said Silvaggi. "Saints Nation does not shy away from showing how proud we are of the team, but seeing the City of Windsor and other community partners light up the core with our beloved school colours is a true testament to the magnitude of this big victory."
The lights will be lit every evening through Sunday.
