Two arrested in trafficking operation with ties to GTA

Windsor police seized over $400,000 of illicit drugs during an investigation into a drug trafficking operation with links to the Greater Toronto Area.

The Drugs and Guns Unit started the investigation, Project Kraken, in May 2024.

On December 21, officers arrested a 26-year-old as he was returning to Windsor from Toronto. The suspect attempted to flee but officers removed him from his vehicle and he was arrested.

After a search of the suspect's vehicle officers found two kilograms of cocaine, 356 grams of fentanyl, three cellphones, packaging materials, and $950 in Canadian and American currency.

Police then searched two homes connected to the investigation. At a home in Harrow, officers found 575 grams of cocaine, 180 tablets of 80mg oxycodone, 72 tablets of 5mg oxycodone, 95 rounds of ammunition, empty packaging with cocaine residue, a digital scale, and $14,212 in Canadian currency.

At a home on Ouellette Avenue near Shepherd Street officers arrested a second suspect connected to the investigation.

The total value of drugs seized in the operation was $412,850.

Both suspects are facing multiple charges related to drug trafficking.
