Suspect charged behind the wheel of stolen vehicle

A 33-year-old Windsor man faces charges after police took down a suspect alleged to have stolen a vehicle.

Windsor Police were notified the vehicle had been stolen from Peter Street between Watkins Street and Prince Road on Wednesday.

The Windsor Police Auto Theft Unit quickly tracked it to a parking lot on Meadowbrook Lane.

When they arrived on Meadowbrook, officers found the suspect in the driver's seat, so they surrounded the vehicle and took the suspect into custody.

They also observed the car's license plate had already been removed and replaced with one from another stolen vehicle.

The vehicle was returned to its owner, and the suspect is charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or go to www.catchcrooks.com.
