Windsor franchisee named a top McHappy Day fundraiser

Many McDonald's customers were "lovin' it" earlier this month, helping to make a Windsor franchisee one of the top fundraisers in Canada.

McDonald's Canada celebrated its 31st McHappy Day on Thursday, May 8, where proceeds from the sale of food and drink, and other fundraising items, went to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Windsor and London.

Franchisee Jason Trussell was named one of Canada's top three fundraisers, bringing in over $224,000.

"We are so grateful to everyone who stopped by on McHappy Day to show their support for the RMHC Houses in Windsor and London," said Trussell. "This total reflects the unwavering support of our restaurant teams and our community and will go a long way towards supporting families across our region."

In addition to the food and beverage sales on McHappy Day, Trussell's restaurant staff sold over 4,300 pairs of socks and raised over $5,500 in paper heart donations. Other fundraising campaigns also take place throughout the year.

Across Canada, McDonald's raised a record-breaking $11.3-million on May 8.

Windsor Regional Hospital is home to one Ronald McDonald House, a home-away-from-home for families of children receiving treatment at the hospital.
