A 16-year-old has been charged, and another youth is being sought following a weekend robbery in Amherstburg.
Officers from Windsor police's Amherstburg detachment were called Saturday night at around 7:30 to Sandwich Street South near Simcoe Street. The suspects reportedly approached a 12-year-old, pulled a knife, and demanded money.
The suspects forcibly grabbed the victim's backpack and money before running away. The victim was not hurt.
At around 10 p.m., a 16-year-old was arrested on King Street near Richmond Street and is charged with armed robbery. The suspect can not be identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The other suspect is described as a White male, 15 to 18 years old. At the time of the incident, he wore a white hooded sweater with “New York” printed across it.
Police have asked residents and business owners in the area to check any surveillance footage from Saturday between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.
