Windsor Police probe possible link between stabbing death and pellet gun incident

Windsor Police are investigating after someone fired a pellet gun at a home on Goyeau Street between Shepherd Street East and Hanna Street East.

Officers were called to the home around 9 p.m. on Monday, where they found multiple holes in the residence's windows.

Two masked suspects were spotted firing the weapon at the home before fleeing northbound on Goyeau Street in a white Ford Flex.

The incident is near where an 18-year-old man was taken into custody after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death on Tecumseh Road East near McDougall Street.

Investigators are trying to determine if there is a link between the incident on Monday night and Sunday's homicide.

"The Windsor Police Service takes incidents involving weapons seriously," read a release. "Acts of retaliation or intimidation that place the public at risk will not be tolerated and will be thoroughly investigated."

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support the family of the teen who was killed.

"We are heartbroken to share the loss of our sweet Shane Cushman, a deeply loved son, brother, nephew, grandson and friend to many, whose life was abruptly taken too soon," read the post on GoFundMe.com.

The campaign's goal is set at $35,000, and by Wednesday morning, more than $28,000 had been raised.

"We're starting this fundraiser to help give Shane the funeral he deserves and to support our family during this incredibly difficult time," continued the post.
