Candlelit vigil for those who have lost a child is on Sunday

A flame can be a powerful symbol of light in the darkness, and on Sunday, the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County Branch hopes it'll be just that for those who have lost a child.

It's holding its 17th annual Candlelight Service at the Fogolar Furlan Club in Windsor so those who have suffered loss can remember their loved one, no matter their age or cause.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a candle to light for their lost loved one and a photo to place on the memory table.

After a formal program, each person is invited to light their candle and take part in an outdoor candlelit procession.

The vigil is hosted by the CMHA-WECB's bereavement program, which supports hundreds of children and adults who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

The vigil starts at 6:30 p.m. and hot beverages will be supplied by Tim Hortons.
